Skin Care for Teens and Young Adults

Skin care

Acne is a skin disease that causes pimples. Pimples form when your pores clog up. Most pimples are on the face, neck, back,  chest and shoulders. Acne is common in teenagers and young adults.

No one knows exactly what causes acne. Hormone changes, like those during your teens, might play a role.
There are some things people think cause acne, but are not true.

Some of these are:

  • Food, like chocolate and greasy foods
  • Dirty skin
  • Stress
If you have acne:
  • Clean your skin gently
  • Try not to touch your skin
  • Avoid the sun
Treatments for acne include medicines and creams.1
